Ant Fern
The ant fern, named for its hollow rhizomes that shelter ants, can grow on tree trunks or in small pots. It thrives in warm climates, needing high humidity and regular misting. Ant ferns prefer moderate shade and spread by growing new rhizomes alongside the old ones. Pruning redirects nutrients for new sprouts.
Light: prefer bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some direct morning sun, but avoid placing them in full, intense sunlight which can scorch the leaves.
Water: keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged.
Fertiliser: every 2-4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Withhold fertilizer in winter.
Benefits: minimalist style
